Stacey Mann Estates Agent Valuation of this property is £550,000

Description:

Stacey Mann Estates is delighted to bring this idiosyncratic property to the market. A true one off this property is steeped in artistic history and has so much room and scope to play with.
Arcadia was the home to the well-known Cornish artist, Max Barrett. Best known locally for his piece at Sainsbury's roundabout in Truro- he was also commissioned by Elton John. Max was a self-taught artist who worked full time carving wood, stone, metal, and later bronze. Max and his family moved to Arcadia in 1988 where they lived in a caravan while Max converted Arcadia from what was then a disused farm building. Max took four to five years to complete the build and managed to juggle his carving and family life at the same time. For building, Max was resourceful and recycled materials where he could. Wooden fish boxes from Newlyn were used for bookcases, the floorboards he was given from the former Stennack school in St. Ives, now the surgery, he used on the open living space floor. Delabole slate he separated into thinner sheets, he used as flooring in the kitchen. The garden at Arcadia was Max’s studio. He loved the natural light and the Cornish countryside that surrounded him. The views were an inspiration—the rolling hillsides, patchworks of fields and networks of hedges and roads. Twelve o’clock rock sits on top of Trink Hill where the sun sets. Trencrom Hill which is a five-minute walk from Arcadia. Max built Arcadia with love and joy, as he did with his carvings. You could say Arcadia is one of Max’s works of art!
Set in a quiet rural location just 6 miles to Penzance, 3 miles to St.Ives and 4 miles to Hayle.
