From Montrose heading north to Hillside take Main Road past the Post Office and the park, following the road for about 3 miles to Three Laws of Craigo heading towards the A90 dual carriageway. Equally from the A90 turn off at the Hillside junction just north of Stracathro Services and follow that road for approximately 3 miles and The Shambles is on the left hand side clearly marked.

Steeped in history, nearby Montrose is a popular, picturesque coastal town with the harbour, beautiful beach and the Montrose Basin offering terrific walks. There is an excellent range of local services for its residents, including a variety of shops, nice restaurants, health centre and sports centre with a very nice swimming pool and the local museum and library.

The A90 dual carriageway, is easily reached and links Aberdeen with Dundee and Perth. At Perth it connects with the A90 to Edinburgh and the A9 west to Stirling and Glasgow. Both Aberdeen and Dundee are easily reached and offer all the services expected of major cities. There are railway stations at Montrose and Laurencekirk with regular services to Aberdeen and the south, including a sleeper. Aberdeen Airport provides a range of domestic and European flights and there are services from Dundee to London Stansted.
