Savills - Ipswich Agent Valuation of this property is £750,000

Description:

Village house with woodland and studio/outbuilding.

Location

Chelsworth lies in a Conservation Area in the sought after stretch of Suffolk countryside which includes historic villages such as Bildeston, Lavenham, Monks Eleigh and Kersey. Between them these villages offer local schools and better than average day to day shopping facilities.

A wider selection of shopping, educational and leisure facilities can be found in the Suffolk market towns of Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Sudbury and Hadleigh. A little further, but still within easy reach, are Colchester, Cambridge and Norwich. There are fast Intercity trains to London from Stowmarket (85 minutes), Ipswich (70 minutes) and Colchester (50 minutes).

Chelsworth has immediate access to excellent walking along the many rights of way in the Brett valley; and there are equestrian centres close by at Boyton Hall and Highland Hall. There are sailing and fishing amenities on the rivers of the east coast; and golf can be enjoyed at many nearby courses, including Stoke by Nayland, Hintlesham and Ipswich.

Description

Middle House is believed to date back to the 15th century and is Grade II listed. It includes the historic heart of the original manor house, which was enlarged over the centuries and divided some 60 years ago into two separate properties - the other half being known as The Old Manor. The house is constructed predominantly of timber frame and brick and has colour washed elevations under a peg and slate tiled roofs.

The garden immediately to the rear of the house is walled, sensitively planted and dominated by a magnificent ancient plane tree. A less formal garden to the north of the Victorian coach house leads to two acres of mature woodland. The coach house itself offers potential for a variety of uses - in recent times it has afforded space for a garage, two tool stores, an artist's studio and a pottery. Like the house, it is divided with The Old Manor.

Services; Mains electricity, water and drainage. Oil central heating.

Square Footage: 2853 sq ft

Directions

Entering the village of Chelsworth on the B1115 from the east, leave the village hall and a thatched house to the right. The Old Manor and Middle House are next on the right. Coming from the west on the B1115, Middle House is the third house on the left beyond the Peacock. There is car access to the back of the house via a drive which runs up the west side of the village hall, turns left and ends outside the coach house.
