The connected villages of Elie and Earlsferry are popular holiday destinations due to the unspoilt sandy beaches, accessible golf courses and range of water sports available. Whilst situated on the beach, The Old Bake House is just a short walk from Earlsferry High Street, and ideally positioned for access to Elie Golf Course and the shops, cafés and restaurants of Elie.

Elie and Earlsferry are in the East Neuk of Fife, famed for its picturesque fishing villages and sandy beaches, with Elie boasting one of the finest. Sailing, wind surfing and other water sports are available at Elie Harbour and there are two golf courses, one the acclaimed 18 hole course and a short 9 hole course suitable for beginners. There are also golf practice facilities, several hard tennis courts and a bowling green. Elie Sports Club offers group and individual coaching in golf and tennis during school holidays. Elie is well served by pubs and cafés including the renowned Ship Inn, and the historic 19th Hole tavern and restaurant in Earlsferry. St Andrews, 'the home of golf' and the setting for one of Britain's oldest universities, is only 13 miles away. There are traditional links golf courses at nearby Crail, Leven and Lundin Links and new courses at Kingsbarns and St Andrews Bay. St Andrews has an excellent selection of shops, restaurants and services to supplement those available in the village.

Description

Thanks to its superb beachfront setting, The Old Bake House offers one of coastal Scotland's most spectacular and desirable outlooks, with picturesque and undisturbed views over Elie and Earlsferry beaches, and across the Firth of Forth towards East Lothian. The original Bake House which once supplied the local bakeries was built on this site in about the 1850s, and was re-built as a dwelling house in the late 1940s. The house has recently been fully re-designed, extended and renovated, led by architects Robin Hopkins and Gillespie & Scott, and was completed in 2020.

The property was fully rewired and re-plumbed throughout and sits under a pantile roof with new dormer window, and an extended and resurfaced balcony. The clever design has transformed the property, to offer contemporary and flexible accommodation, while ensuring that the views can be admired from almost every room in the house. The addition of the second floor dormer window and a first floor balcony provides a stunning elevated perspective of one of Scotland's most iconic beaches.

The ground floor accommodation is approached through a porch which has doors leading into both the spacious entrance hall which the current owners use as a dining area, and the sunroom. The sunroom has patio doors onto the south facing deck, and double glass doors into the kitchen. The kitchen is fitted with range of units with integrated appliances including a Rangemaster double oven cooker with five burner gas hob, Bosch fridge freezer and Bosch dishwasher. A corridor off the back of the kitchen has a door into the garden, and leads to the utility room, where there is a pantry store and boiler / hot water tank cupboard. The ground floor sitting room could also be used as a bedroom. It has a door out into the rear garden, feature fireplace (non-functioning), characterful timber ceiling beams, and superb south facing views towards the beach. There is also a ground floor WC.

The spectacular first floor bedroom room has glazed doors leading onto the balcony overlooking the beach. This room would make for a superb sitting room if preferred, with the balcony offering a spacious entertaining area with modern glass balustrades to maximise the views. It has an en suite bathroom with separate shower adjacent. There is a large principal bedroom on this level with north and south facing windows, fitted wardrobes, and an en suite shower room.

A contemporary spiral staircase leads up to the second floor suite. The large bedroom on this level has a recently installed dormer window which provides breathtaking views from the highest level of the house. The bedroom on this level also has an en suite shower room, and fitted wardrobes.

Both front and rear gardens are fully walled. The re-landscaped front garden overlooks the beach and provides off street parking via a driveway which passes through the stone wall. The beautiful walled garden to the rear of the house is a private and peaceful space. It is largely laid to lawn with a mix of trees, plants and shrubs. The grounds of The Old Bake House continue beyond the front garden, down to the high water line of the beach.
