Sellers Story

We first came across Mill House when we agreed to buy one of the new houses being built within the Willow Lane development from the builder Charles Church. When we first moved into the lane, many of the other houses were still being built. As part of the construction of Willow Lane, we also watched the landscaping and perimeter wall be built to Mill House.
We were always impressed with Mill Houses size and land, and the fact it looks like a mansion house, with its two wings.
After a couple of years, we found out it was now for sale, so we didn’t hesitate in offering the asking price on the same day.

At that point, it had been converted into offices for what was the owner’s vetenary supplies business. As there was no building work as such required, we simply saw it as a conversion project to turn it back into a home.

The plan was always to create a luxury space which enhanced our lives, with emphasis on a modern country house look, with luxury materials and fixtures, and luxury features that made living here special every day.

Living in Mill House is an experience every day. It’s a private space, safe and secure within a countryside setting, surrounded by trees and farmland, plus, in your own home you can gym, then have a steam room, play table tennis or pool, then relax in a spa bath or outside in the hot tub under the stars, then enjoy good food and wine in a lovely ambient kitchen space with a real fire, finishing the night off with a film in your own cinema room, what’s not to like?

For us the “what made you buy it?” is only half the question, the second part is what made you make it? The answer is Mill House was the perfect canvass; a large mansion style property that just needed someone with the vision to see its full potential.

The kitchen is where we spend most of our time. It’s packed with features; real brick wall, heated stone floors, deep oak doorways, beams, bricked oven, granite worktops and plinths, feature lighting and a warming log burner with fireplace. Just dim the lights and add a couple of candles and enjoy the flames of the fire.

Christmas is always memorable, every year as we dress the kitchen for the family to enjoy. The big open space enables us to entertain eight to ten people seated with ease. The granite island acts as a large buffet area where family can fill their plates with Christmas food. Presents are opened and games are played with space to spare.

We have enjoyed our version of Mill House we have created. It has always been an ongoing project as we worked our way through each and every room. To see it finished and to such a high standard is really satisfying. The patience to have waited and invested in the materials and fixtures we really wanted has paid off.

We will miss pretty well everything about living in Mill House and Fillongley, as for us it’s been a lifestyle; but now Mill House is simply too big for us, and so it’s time to downsize and enjoy a smaller property that fits in more with our plans to travel. Much as we love Mill House, we have a holiday home abroad which prior to the pandemic we used roughly six months of the year; us like everyone else hope times will get back to normal so this can recommence.
