Fit for A king or queen - noir by davidcliff - Let’s be honest, how often do you have the opportunity to own your very own castle.

I do remember this conversion and saving of the castle quite well, some 26 years ago, although i’ve never, until now, been able to see the finished works and it’s frankly incredible and everything i’d hoped for.

The first confirmed, well documented notes on the construction date back to 1809 – 1810 with ‘talk’ of an earlier birth. The red brick is quite stunning in the flesh, the turrets and battlements give you all the look you would hope for and more, this is a truly, jaw droppingly stunning building and you’ll be forgiven for just standing and staring.

Fortunately, the location, at the end of a private drive, means you don’t have to worry about people drifting past, you would actually not know this vast building was here unless ‘you knew’.

So, the footage will show how you drift along the gated driveway and land at Middle Castle, the manicured planting is taken care of for you so you can just enjoy it and you then swing left to your private parking area and garaging. When you get out of your car, do take a moment, it’ll be hard not to and we’ll wait for you.

Wandering across from the private parking area the manicured planting leads the way draws you to the front courtyard, the large period steps then take you up to the grand front entrance.

As you enter it really is as you would hope, a great size to greet guests, vast ceilings heights and incredible features everywhere you look, it was one of the very few times our sales team have been silent, but for all the right reasons. The stunning oak flooring sets everything off, then as you look up your eye line is taken all the way through to the rear and out onto the gardens.

Whether this was cleverly planned or not is hard to say but it does nothing but enhance your first impressions. The staircase, simply put, is like an attractive piece of furniture, you can’t help but take in the detail and the sheer size, width and just how incredibly solid it is, they really did know how to build back then.

Off to the left and you’ll find the kitchen finished in off white panel doors with contrasting work surfaces, a lovely combination. The huge ceiling heights continue as you would expect and then you have a beautiful, exposed brick work wall to the far end with arched recesses, the detail in the arched windows is also worth taking in, real quality.

The centre of the home, the heart is so so hard to put across in either photographs or words, it is simply staggering. Walk through here on the oak flooring, and you will find yourself staring up just as the current owners did all those years ago, only they saw up and through the roof to the sky pre-refurbishment and still knew they had to live here. Looking to the rear you will note two huge, beautiful arched windows looking through to the garden room with a double height arched walkway leading you through to the garden room itself.

Now to the garden room itself, wow what a space. The fully glazed rear wall and glazed vaulted ceiling allow the light to pour through into the main reception space. This is the most incredible room to sit and look through to the grounds, you can throw open the doors and spill out with guests to enjoy this amazing outside space.

Now to move upstairs, you can take your bow and arrows, but be careful please.
I have touched on the staircase, and it is without doubt another feature to this amazing home, it may be a strange comment to make but just walking up is an adventure, it is the most solid piece, chunky, intricate and wide, so noticeably wide.

Arriving on the vaulted landing you will find three bedrooms, including the master suite, dressing room, and a family bathroom. The master suite covers virtually half this floor, and it is just how you would hope, elegant, grand and spacious with the vast height ceilings you will now be expecting. The feature window is again exactly that, a feature and the huge ensuite bathroom with solid steel roll top bath and separate shower, is something you expect to see in the best hotels. The dressing room is then a sizable room with fitted furniture and the most gorgeous turreted feature, a truly fabulous space which would also lend itself to the most stunning and grand cot room / nursery.

Bedrooms two and three then have the same stunning feature windows, the family bathroom then services these rooms and is well-fitted with a white suite and fully tiled walls.

Ok so now we move outside, we`ve touched on the frontage, but I can`t stress enough how beautifully private this, a real feel of an `approach` if that makes sense, which sets the scene so well. The private parking is extensive and then the detached double garage, clearly not built in 1809 ;) adds some modern convenience that will tick another popular box for many buyers.

Then to the rear, and trust me you will not be expecting this, the grounds are vast and `park like` in many areas. They have been created by the current owners with some real thought and class. You could run around this space all day with the children and dogs, building camps and having fun but equally hold the most wonderful garden party with family and friends and blow them away with what they see.

The wooded areas give the mix that I feel most people would want but should you be a keen and creative gardener there is still scope to do more but it`s far from a necessity. I could see a cabin out here, either for work play but that will be for you to decide.........

So all in all this has been a real adventure for me and one that I will always have in my memories when friends and clients ask me about the most Unique and Grand homes I`ve ever seen....... Thank you Middle Castle.
